JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) responded to the plan of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mohammad Mahfud MD who wanted to withdraw from the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet. According to Jokowi, the plan is the right of Mahfud.

"Yes, that's right (Mahfud, ed), and I really appreciate it," said President Jokowi after the handover of the A-134 Aircraft, Fennec Helicopters, and Panther Helicopters in 2024 at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, on Wednesday, January 24.

It is known, Mahfud MD revealed his intention to resign as Jokowi's minister last night.

"I plan to resign for a long time when the first debate starts," said Mahfud during a discussion on Collis Prof in Semarang, Central Java, Tuesday, January 23, evening.

According to Mahfud, by resigning as a minister he can more freely open and disclose data to the public. This is in his capacity as a vice presidential candidate to accompany Ganjar Pranowo.

However, Mahfud said, there were several things to consider. One of them is related to ethics to President Jokowi who has appointed him as the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

"I was appointed by him with great respect, with full confidence in him as the people's president," he said.

Therefore, the former chairman of the Constitutional Court is waiting for the right moment to resign from his position as if he is the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

"Waiting for timing, and with respect for President Pak Jokowi, so it will not offend anyone," said Mahfud.
