PBNU Chairman: Khofifah Must Be Inactive From The Head Of Muslim PP If She Enters TKN

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board Yahya Cholil Staquf emphasized that Khofifah Indar Parawansa must be inactive from the Head of PP Muslimat Nahdlatul Ulama, if officially registered with the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN).

"Now that he has announced that he is a campaign interpreter, we will see if he is officially included in the campaign team, yes he must be inactive from his position as General Chair of Muslimat," Yahya said in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, January 18.

Previously, Khofifah Indar Parawansa announced that she was directing her political support for the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number 2 Prabowo Subianto - Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

According to Gus Yahya, not only Khofifah, the branch heads and regions involved in the legislative candidacy must also resign from their positions and must be replaced by others.

"There are a number of regional heads and branch heads who are running for office, both as candidates for members of the DPR at various levels from various parties, various parties, they must resign and must be replaced," he said.

In terms of institutions, he said, NU organization is not involved in campaigning or supporting the presidential election. But personally, NU as an organization has no right to hinder it.

"Personalism of course we have no right to obstruct, whoever it is. I have explained the parameters earlier about how the relationship between personal involvement and organization is. But institutionally NU is clearly not involved," he said.
