PSI Calls Handling Election Violations Only Sharp To Gibran, Anies Believes Bawaslu Is Objective

Presidential candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan, responded to a statement by the secretary general of the Indonesian Solidity Party (PSI) who assessed that the handling of alleged election violations by the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) was only sharp to the vice presidential candidate number 2, Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The former governor of DKI Jakarta still considers Bawaslu to be objective in supervising and processing reports and findings of alleged election violations.

"We are not fair to conduct an assessment, but we have confidence that Bawaslu must be objective," said Anies at Pattimura Airport, Ambon, Maluku, Monday, January 15.

According to Anies, Bawaslu cannot side with one of the election participants because their work is also supervised by the public. Therefore, Anies was surprised if PSI considered Bawaslu to be one-sided in handling cases.

"Tamben, does anyone feel like they have been hit sharply? Maybe because they usually always walk, they are not challenged, huh?" said Anies.

Previously, PSI Secretary General, Raja Juli Antoni, assessed that Bawaslu was only sharp to Gibran, while the other candidate pairs were rather blunt, even so he invited Bawaslu to investigate Gibran's cases.

Raja Juli mentioned several previous violations, one of which was Gibran's activity of distributing milk during Car Free Day. Then the latest is Gibran's meeting with 30 village heads in Maluku which are currently being processed by Bawaslu.

Then, Bawaslu dismissed the accusation by Raja Juli that Bawaslu was sharper to the vice president Gibran Rakabuming Raka than the other candidate pairs. Bagja also asked Raja Juli to prove his words.

"Just try to prove whether it is really sharp to Gibran. We will see the report on the results of the supervision of all of my friends," said Bawaslu Chairman Rahmat Bagja in Jakarta, Monday, January 15.

Regarding this assumption, Bawaslu emphasized the procedures for handling reports of alleged violations. Rahmat Bagja emphasized that the meeting with the village head/king in Maluku is currently being processed.

"It is still being processed, which is a meeting with the traditional head, then there is also a regulation as a village head, it is being processed by Bawaslu, Ambon City, Maluku Province. It is suspected that there was a violation," he said.
