MANOKWARI - Manokwari Police, West Papua arrested a suspect in the crime of theft with the initials EYR with evidence as many as eight units of motorized vehicles.

Head of the Manokwari Police Operations Section, Kompol Wisnu Prasetyo, said the motor vehicle theft case was revealed after the police developed a case of theft of Rp140 million.

"The suspect was arrested by the Special Antipreman Team (Tempat) of the Criminal Investigation Unit on Monday (8/1) at 10.00 WIT," said Wisnu as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, January 15.

The suspect EYR has committed motor vehicle theft since 2023 with various modus operandi.

In this action, the suspect EYR was assisted by two of his colleagues who are currently still being pursued to account for the crime of theft.

"Two other perpetrators, namely EK and MB, are still being pursued," said Wisnu.

The Manokwari Police have only received three police reports from victims of motor vehicle theft by EYR and two of his colleagues.

Meanwhile, Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Manokwari Police, AKP D Raja Putra Napitupulu, explained that there were two units of motorized vehicles stolen by MB perpetrators.

For five motorized vehicles that have not been reported by the police, identification will be carried out to determine the ownership of the five vehicles in question.

"The suspect EYR was first arrested. We have secured evidence of this theft from the perpetrator's family," explained King Napitupulu.

The suspect EYR was charged with Article 362 and Article 363 paragraph 1 3e and 4e of the Criminal Code (KUHP) with a maximum imprisonment of seven years.

EYR was arrested after the police received a report of theft of money belonging to the victim with the initials JSJ amounting to Rp140 million, but some money has been used by the suspect to buy two cellphones and other necessities.

"The remaining money and confiscated was Rp. 105 million," said Raja Napitupulu.
