Controller Of 4 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine In North Sumatra Demanded The Death Penalty

The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Binjai District Attorney's Office has demanded the death of the defendant Dian Alfanur Matondang alias Komar alias Uncu in the case of controlling four kilograms of methamphetamine.

"Yes, the defendant has been charged with the death penalty read by the prosecutor at the Binjai District Court, North Sumatra," said Head of the Intelligence Section of the Binjai Attorney General's Office, Adre Wanda Ginting, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 27.

He said Dian was charged with violating Article 114 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code or the second Article 112 paragraph (2) of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.

"The aggravating thing is that the defendant does not support the government's program in efforts to eradicate narcotics and the defendant has been convicted, while the mitigating matter is polite," said Adre.

After reading the memorandum of demand by the prosecutor, the panel of judges chaired by Mukhtar continued the trial next week with the agenda of a memorandum of defense read out by the defendant and the defendant's legal adviser.

"The death penalty against the defendant proves that the Binjai Kejari is serious about eradicating drugs," said Adre.

The indictment revealed that on April 14, 2023, the defendant called the defendant M Sulaiman alias Issue (separate file) to pick up the evidence from Aceh with a salary of Rp. 10 million to be delivered to North Sumatra.

Subsequently, Sulaiman brought the bag containing the methamphetamine by riding public transportation. In short, arriving in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra, Sulaiman met Agus Salam Ginting (separate file).

On April 15, 2023, officers from the North Sumatra BNNP suspected the two people who had previously received information from the public. Then an arrest was made with four kilograms of evidence. The results of the interrogation, the goods were owned by the defendant who was still a prisoner in one of the correctional institutions in North Sumatra.
