JAKARTA - The Directorate General (Ditjen) of Human Rights of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) in collaboration with the National Commission (Komnas) HAM held the commemoration of 75th World Human Rights Day. This event raised the theme 'Harmoni in Diversity'.

The Director General (Dirjen) of Human Rights at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Dhana Putra said collaboration with Komnas HAM was the first time in the history of commemorating World Human Rights Day in Indonesia. He hopes that this collaboration will continue.

"This is the first time we have carried out a collaboration (worldly) Human Rights Day commemoration. Our hope, first and so on is collaborative activities between Komnas HAM and the Directorate General of Human Rights in the context of the 75th International Human Rights Day activities. The topic was taken is Harmoni in Diversity," said Dhana during a discussion with the mass media in Jakarta, Tuesday, December 5, which was confiscated by Antara.

The peak of the celebration of the 75th World Human Rights Day will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Lapangan Banteng, Jakarta.

According to Dhana, the theme of Harmony in Diversity is important because it is in line with the current conditions in the country.

"This is very important. Why? Indonesia has quite a lot of extraordinary ethnic groups. Moreover, in the current political year, the hope is that elections can be carried out properly, without any divisions, a discrimination against the implementation of elections. We must be able to unite Indonesia in a democratic platform," he said.

He explained that the national theme was in line with the theme of World Human Rights Day which was raised by the United Nations (UN), namely Freedom, Equality and Justice for All or "Freedom, Equality, and Justice for All".

"This is a national theme, but if we look at it referring to the United Nations, it is inherent. At this time, harmony in diversity is our current thing. When we face political years, when we look at the dynamics of communication between ethnic groups, with this moment it will become an adhesive for the entire Indonesian nation, the importance of the meaning of differences," he added.

On the same occasion, the Chairman of Komnas HAM Atnike Nova Sigiro explained that the first collaboration in commemorating World Human Rights Day between his institution and the Directorate General of Human Rights is a form of concern for actors and institutions who care about human rights issues.

"I think because the tradition of commemorating human rights is routinely carried out by state institutions, the actors and institutions who have been meeting and commemorating it also feel or see the meaning of a shared warning," said Atnike.
