HUMBAHAS - The Regency Government (Pemkab) Humbang Hasundutan (Humbahas), North Sumatra has declared an emergency response status for flash floods and landslides in Simangulempe Village, Bakti Raja District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra.

The decision on the emergency response status for flash floods and landslides is carried out for the next fourteen days.

This was conveyed directly by the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Lt. Gen. Suharyanto while directly inspecting the location of flash floods and landslides in Simangulempe Village, Bakti Raja District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra, on Monday 4 December.

According to him, the decision was taken after holding a joint coordination meeting.

There are several steps now being carried out. First, Mr. Regent Humbang Hasundutan has established an emergency response status for two weeks (14 days). So far, the handling of flash floods and landslides has been going well thanks to the cooperation between the TNI and Polri, Basarnas and the government of Humbang Hasundutan Regency," said Suharyanto.

Currently, the joint team has deployed 14 heavy equipment to help the joint team carry out optimal search for victims.

"There are ten people who are affected and are still being sought. This is a week's time. Earlier we had a coordination meeting between the TNI, Polri, Basarnas, Volunteers and all those involved looking to meet them. If it has entered the next week we will coordinate again, whether to continue or not," he explained.

BNPB will later deploy the Geological Agency to find out the cause of the flash floods and landslides in Humbahas.

Until now, the joint SAR Team together with the TNI, Polri and surrounding communities are still searching for 10 residents who were declared missing in the flash flood disaster accompanied by landslides.
