SURABAYA - The East Java Provincial Government announced the district/city minimum wage (UMK) in 2024 after being stipulated in the Decree of the Governor of East Java Number: 188/656/KPTS/013/2023 dated November 30, 2023.

Regional Secretary of East Java Province Adhy Karyonomastic that the determination of the amount of UMK 2024 has taken into account the real conditions in each local district/city, which has increased by an average of close to 6.3 percent, as is the provincial minimum wage (UMP) which was previously set.

"The considerations are related to economic growth in each district/city area. In addition, we also consider the inflation rate, as well as the need for household expenses," he said in his statement in Surabaya, Thursday (30/11) night, reported by ANTARA.

He said the determination of the 2024 UMK had paid attention to justice, including the continuation of the business world, the fate of workers in certain areas which were still low and did not match the burden of expenditure and welfare.

"The determination of the 2024 UMK in 38 regencies/cities has been fair by considering the stability of the business climate in East Java which is conducive," he said.

The highest UMK 2024 in East Java is Surabaya City with IDR 4.7 million followed by four areas called "Ring 1 East Java", namely Gresik, Sidoarjo, Pasuruan, and Mojokerto Regencies, each IDR 4.6 million.

A total of four areas commonly referred to as "Ring II East Java" with a range of IDR 3.3 million, namely Malang City, Pasuruan and Malang Regency. In addition, Batu City is IDR 3.1 million.
