JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP) Moeldoko, called on regional governments to immediately facilitate the registration of 2024 election and regional head election organizers in the regions as active participants in the National Health Insurance (JKN) program.

This is needed so that all election and regional election administrators can receive Health History Screening services from BPJS Health.

Moeldoko conveyed this after witnessing the signing of the Joint Circular (SEB) on the Implementation of Health History Screening and Optimization of Active Participation in the JKN Program for 2024 election and regional election administrators, at the Bina Graha building, Jakarta, Monday 20 November.

The signing of the SEB was carried out by representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, BPJS Health, the General Election Commission (KPU), and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu).

Moeldoko emphasized that the Presidential Staff Office initiated the implementation of Health History Screening and Optimizing Active Participation in the JKN Program for election and regional election administrators, so that the events of the 2019 election do not repeat themselves.

As is known, in the 2019 election,  around 722 election administrators died and 798 others fell ill. On the election supervisor side, at least 33 supervisors died, and 433 others fell ill. This number does not include security forces from the TNI/Polri.

“I don't want the government to be blamed, as if the government didn't do something. "For this reason, KSP initiated this program as a preventive measure so that all election officials can have their health conditions identified from the start," said Moeldoko.

Furthermore, Moeldoko requested that the Joint Circular be an impetus for implementing Health History Screening and JKN membership for around 7.6 million election officials and more than 900 thousand election supervisors.

So that later officers who are identified as having health risks can be treated immediately according to medical indications using the JKN scheme.

"The public must see that the government is here to think in advance about the safety and health of election and regional election officials," he said.

On the same occasion, the Chair of Bawaslu, Rahmat Bagja, assessed that the initiation of the Presidential Staff Office in implementing health history screening and active participation in the JKN program for election organizers and supervisors was a form of government recognition and protection of the health rights of election ad hoc body officers.

"So that there will be no more fake news about officers or supervisors being poisoned, or anything else," said Bagja.

Meanwhile, the Main Director of BPJS Health, Ali Ghufron Mukti, ensured that the system for implementing Health History Screening for election organizers and supervisors was ready.

The mechanism, he continued, is that all election and regional election organizers and supervisors who have registered as active JKN participants will fill in a health history form.

From these results, the health condition of each officer will be identified. If someone has a health risk, medical action will be taken.

“Our system is ready. And not all countries have a system like this," explained Ali Ghufron Mukti.
