BOGOR - President Director of PT MRT Jakarta Tuhiyat explained the reason why the service ticket payment system is no longer able to use GoPay, OVO, DANA, and LinkAja because the four companies chose to leave and did not renew their cooperation contract.

This was conveyed by Tuhiyat in a meeting of Commission B of the DKI DPRD which discussed changes to the 2023 APBD.

"GoPay, OVO, DANA, and LinkAja left the payment channel at the MRT Jakarta. They stopped themselves after 3 years of contracting with us after they got their ridership," said Tuhiyat at Grand Cempaka Resort & Convention, Bogor, West Java, Thursday, September 13.

Tuhiyat explained that the four payment system companies did not renew their contracts because they still wanted to cooperate for free with MRT Jakarta. Tuhiyat admitted that his party rejected their wishes.

"The slowness is not from us. They are distancing themselves. The reason is that they want to be free after the contract expires. It's impossible for the position. The Ridership continues to increase, we can get the wrong governance if it's like that," explained Tuhiyat.

In principle, Tuhiyat emphasized that the MRT remains open to cooperating, provided that it must gain profits for the company owned by the DKI Provincial Government and its partners.

However, if GoPay, OVO, DANA, and LinkAja are no longer willing, according to him, this is not a problem. Moreover, the benefits of paying MRT tickets from the four payment system providers do not have a large portion compared to other e-wallets.

"From the total revenue, the results of the payment channel for GoPay, OVO, DANA, and LinkAja are only 8 percent. That's a little portion. The others are from banks, electronic money cards. What previously left was only 4 percent of our portion. It's actually small," explained Tuhiyat.

"We always say open, anytime we can continue to work together. But what happens, he will enter us (he wants) free. There is no free business for us," he added.

As of July 1, Jakarta MRT users were no longer able to buy train tickets using the GoPay, OVO, DANA, and LinkAja digital wallet platforms.

Meanwhile, payment services that can still be used by Jakarta MRT users are through the MRT-J application, namely AstraPay, i.Saku, and blu.

Then, the payment system also applies to multiple cruising cards (multitrips), single trip cards, and JakLingko. A number of bank electronic money cards such as BRIZZI, Flazz, e-money, tapcash, and JakCard can still be used.
