PKB No Problem The Coalition's Name Has Been Changed, As Long As Cak Imin And Prabowo Determine The Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates

JAKARTA - The National Awakening Party (PKB) has no problem changing the name of the coalition of political parties supporting the presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto from the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KKIR) to the Advanced Indonesia Coalition.

As long as, the General Chairperson of the PKB DPP Muhaimin Iskandar together with the General Chairperson of Gerindra Prabowo Subianto remains the determinant of the presidential and vice presidential candidates in accordance with the political cooperation agreement signed by the two parties in Sentul, Bogor, West Java, on August 13, 2022.

"In principle, PKB does not have a problem with changing names. However, Sentul's spirit of declaration remains a guide," said PKB DPP chairman Daniel Johan, Tuesday, August 29.

Daniel explained that the main point in the declaration charter stated that Prabowo and Cak Imin were the determinants of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates who were promoted in the 2024 presidential election. This point, he said, should not change even though the name of the coalition changed.

"So Sentul's declaration has not changed and there has been no revocation," he said.

If the points in the charter are changed, Daniel continued, then Cak Imin will discuss the matter internally in the party before determining further steps.

"The problem will turn out to be a significant change or something, yes, Cak Imin will report to the PKB DPP. Cak Imin will listen to the input and decisions of the DPP, the syuro council and the kiai. We'll see what it looks like," said Daniel.

While responding to SOE Minister Erick Thohir's proposal to become Prabowo's vice presidential candidate, Daniel emphasized that this was the authority of the two ketums.

"We are open to proposals from other parties. That PAN already has a commitment (proposing Erick Thohir, ed). If that is ultimately discussed, the final decision of the key holder is only in the two general chairmen," said Daniel.
