Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo congratulated Sumanto as Chairman of the Central Java DPRD. Ganjar hopes that Sumanto can continue the performance of the previous DPRD chairman to jointly build Central Java.
Sumanto replaces Bambang Kusriyanto or Bambang Kribo who died last April. The inauguration and swearing of the DPRD chairman's promise were held in a plenary meeting at the 4th Floor Plenary Meeting Room, Berlian Building, Central Java Provincial DPRD, Monday 5 June.
"I congratulate Pak Sumanto as Chairman of the Central Java DPRD to continue the late Mas Bambang Kribo until the end of his term of office in 2024," said Ganjar in his statement.
The inauguration of Sumanto as Chair of the Central Java DPRD was based on the Decree of the Minister of Home Affairs number 100.2.1.4-124 of 2023 dated May 29, 2023 regarding the inauguration of the appointment of the Chairperson of the Central Java Provincial House of Representatives.
Previously, Sumanto served as Chairman of Commission B of the Central Java DPRD. After taking a fit and proper test at the PDI-P DPP on April 13, 2023, Sumanto was submitted to the PDI-P DPD replacing the late Bambang Kusriyanto. The submission letter was then approved by a member of the council and sent to the Minister of Home Affairs.
Ganjar said that the role of Sumanto was not easy. Because, there are still a lot of homework and agendas that must be completed immediately. Especially in helping Ganjar in the remaining term of office of the Governor of Central Java which ends in September.
"This means that it is like a budget politics that must be resolved quickly and the target is together to complete our RPJMD task. So this is of course the last one but it's not easy, hopefully Mas Manto will be able to carry out this effectively," he said.
Sumanto in his post-announcement speech said that the previous chairman of the Central Java DPRD, Bambang Kusriyanto, had made many updates to the legislative body. He hopes to continue his duties as Chairman of the DPRD for the advancement of Central Java.
"This task is what I will do wholeheartedly. This is a mandate to realize shared ideals for Central Java to be more advanced, prosperous, and dignified," he said.
