JAKARTA - WhatsApp, one of the best messaging applications, is once again helping to keep users' messages private and secure, by launching the Lock Chat or Lock Chat feature.
According to WhatsApp, Lock Chat can provide extra protection for users' most secret chats.
The chats you want to protect will be removed from the inbox and placed in a special folder that can only be accessed with a password or a biometric security method of the user's device such as a fingerprint.
"We believe that this feature will be very useful for those who sometimes need to share their cellphones with family or other people on several occasions, and when secret chats enter, they can feel more secure and maintain their privacy," said WhatsApp on its official blog, quoted Tuesday, May 16th.
Apart from that, this feature also automatically hides chat contents in notifications. To lock it, users simply tap each contact's name on the Chat or group tab, then select the lock option.
Then, if the user wants to open the chat, gently pull down the inbox and enter the password or biometric security method.

In the next few months, WhatsApp will also add some additional options for the Lock Chat feature. Includes the ability to lock companion devices and create custom passwords for chats.
"So you can use a unique password that is different from the password used to lock your phone," explained WhatsApp.
For your information, WhatsApp also recently introduced three new updates to the Polls feature to help groups gather information and make decisions together.
Firstly, users can also create single-vote polls, easily search for polls in the chat and they will also get the latest info of the created polls.
