Permits In Jakarta Are Over The Line, PAN Party: Too Many Indomarets And Alfamarts!

JAKARTA - A member of the PAN Party faction of the DKI Regional Representative Council (DPRD), Lukmanul Hakim, thinks that the DKI Provincial Government needs to tighten the licensing for minimarkets in the capital city. Because, currently granting permission to the modern shop has gone too far.

"I see that there are too many Indomarets and Alfamarts in Jakarta. They even stand opposite or side by side", Lukman told reporters, Friday, July 23.

In fact, he suspects that many modern retailers violate zoning regulations in building minimarkets because they are too close to traditional markets.

“The permit must be re-evaluated. Even if it is necessary to consider a moratorium on new permits because this has gone too far", said Lukman.

In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing. Lukman is worried that the minimarkets, which are too many in number, threaten the economic sustainability of small traders.

Therefore, Lukman also asked the DKI Provincial Government to pay attention to the needs of the people during Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) Level 4 in addition to distributing cash social assistance (BST). This is because, according to him, the currently budgeted allocation of social assistance funds is considered insufficient.

"One of the groups most affected by the emergency PPKM is grocery shop merchants. Restrictions on the mobility of residents outside their homes have reduced their income (grocery shop owners)", he said.

Lukman also invited Jakarta residents to shop at the nearest warung to help revive the economy of the small people. Because by buying daily necessities at neighboring stalls, the wheels of the MSME economy will turn again.

"Instead of enriching our modern capitalist retailers, it is better to prosper our neighboring small stalls and traditional markets", he concluded.
