JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked the West Java Regional Government to oversee the implementation of the health protocol for street vendors (PKL) during the PPKM Level 4.

This was conveyed by Vice President Ma'ruf when giving a briefing to the Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil, all reagents, and mayors in the province of West Java and the West Java COVID-19 Handling Task Force via videoconference from Jakarta.

"The problem with implementing PPKM Level (4) is for street vendors who are allowed to do business so that their health protocols don't go unnoticed", said Vice President Ma'ruf, quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 22.

The West Java Regional Government must also impose stricter regulations on traders so as not to cause clusters to spread COVID-19.

"They need regulation and need supervision so they can trade, but not become a COVID-19 cluster", he added. In implementing PPKM Level 4, the Vice President explained that there are still essential and critical sectors that are allowed to operate by implementing health protocols.

In the briefing, the Vice President also emphasized the importance of accelerating and increasing vaccination targets for the people of West Java.

Referring to the West Java Province COVID-19 Information and Coordination Center Data, the Vice President said the daily positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the area were still high and were the second largest in Indonesia.

On Wednesday, July 21, active cases of COVID-19 in West Java reached 536,000 cases or contributed as much as 18 percent of national cases. Therefore, the Vice President asked the West Java Regional Government to increase consolidation and synergistic coordination with ministries and non-ministerial government agencies (K/L) related to the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine.

"Regarding the acceleration of vaccination, I recommend that it always be coordinated from the Ministry of Health, TNI, Police, with the West Java Provincial Government so that distribution and targets run according to their targets", he said
