The Extension Of The Pontianak Emergency PPKM Is Decided The Day After Tomorrow

PONTIANAK - The Mayor of Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Edi Rusdi Kamtono said whether or not to extend the Emergency Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) will be decided on Wednesday, July 21, the day after tomorrow.

"From the evaluation meeting with President Joko Widodo and the minister earlier, in Pontianak, there has been a slight change, but it is still at level four for the level of infection or is still high", said Edi Rusdi Kamtono in Pontianak, quoted by Antara, Monday, July 19.

He explained, to determine whether the Emergency PPKM in Pontianak City is extended or not, his party will hold a coordination meeting with the Governor of West Kalimantan, Wednesday, July 21.

"We hope there will be changes because the key is indeed the occupancy rate at the hospital and includes the availability of oxygen. Alhamdulillah, now an Oxygen Task Force has been formed so that there will be no shortages like before", he said.

Edi Rusdi added, based on the direction of President Joko Widodo and the minister, the point is that PPKM is categorized into four levels, namely level one, two, three, and four. The green zone is at level one, the yellow zone is level two, level three is in the orange zone and level four is the red zone.

"The level of infection in Pontianak City is still in the level four category, but currently there has been a slight reduction", he said.

According to the mayor, the indicators that led to level four include an increase in the infection rate, the Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR), or the availability of beds above 80 percent.

"Active cases have now started to decline slightly, if previously it was above 400 cases, now it has dropped to 200 cases. In addition to the patient recovery rate, the implementation of health protocols is the main key to suppress the spread of COVID-19 by using masks, washing hands, and avoiding crowds keep your distance", he said.

Edi said that the behavior of the people of Pontianak City has begun to understand how deadly the Coronavirus is that attacks the human body. This is illustrated almost every day ambulances pass by, both those carrying COVID-19 patients to be treated in hospitals or those who die.

"This condition is experienced by residents in the surrounding environment so that they are aware that COVID-19 is deadly", he said.
