Commemorating Eid Al-Adha 1442 Hijriah, Jokowi: Needs Willingness To Make Many Sacrifice

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that Eid al-Adha contains a message about sacrifice and humanity like the example passed down by Prophet Ibrahim. Jokowi hopes that all parties without exception can make sacrifices in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"In the midst of a pandemic like today, we need a willingness to make more sacrifices. Sacrificing personal interests and putting the interests of the community and others first", said Jokowi at the Takbir Akbar Hari Raya Iduladha 1442 Hijriah which was broadcast on YouTube at the Presidential Secretariat, Monday, July 19.

Jokowi asked the public to commemorate Eid al-Adha simply and still adhere to health protocols.

Jokowi also hopes that Eid al-Adha in the midst of this pandemic can be a momentum to strengthen solidarity and strengthen brotherhood among others. So, the energy to rise in the midst of the onslaught of COVID-19 can be doubled.

"We strive together with the discipline to carry out health protocols, wear masks, maintain distance, wash hands, isolate ourselves for those with symptoms and provide assistance to those in need", he said.

In addition, Jokowi invites people to pray and recite Takbir from their respective homes. So, the pandemic will soon pass from the country.

"Let us together ask Allah SWT for help, ask for the healing of our sick brothers and sisters, give strength to our brothers who are carrying out humanitarian tasks", he said.

"May Allah eases all of our steps until we achieve victory against this COVID-19 pandemic", concluded Jokowi.
