JAKARTA - The chairman of the DPD RI, La Nyalla Mattalitti, asked officers to control the implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in the field to be more sensitive when carrying out their duties. This was said by La Nyalla, because there were a number of complaints from critical and essential sector entrepreneurs whose activities were disrupted during Emergency PPKM.

"This critical and essential sector should not be disturbed. Because, these two sectors are the main and highly prioritized according to the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 18 of 2021," said La Nyalla, Saturday, July 17.

However, he continued, there is a lack of uniformity in the interpretation of officers in the field which has hampered activities in the two sectors. For example, complaints from businessmen who are members of the East Java Chamber of Commerce.

La Nayalla said, many of them were hampered in the distribution of goods due to the blocking of a number of roads, including the closure of all toll exits in Central Java, July 16-22 2021. Even though the goods sent were included in the essential and critical categories.

"There are logistics and distribution businessmen who are holding back and have to lobby the officer's superiors to pass. This is because the officers in the field do not understand," explained the Senator from East Java.

Complaints were also submitted by restaurant business actors, food stalls, street vendors and MSMEs. The implementation of Emergency PPKM is considered too excessive even though they have implemented the 'take away' rule.

"Including many who protest the curfew rule. It is better for business actors like this to be given leeway," said La Nyalla.

La Nyalla reminded that the Emergency PPKM officers in the field really understand which sectors are given relaxation.

"The government needs to immediately evaluate the implementation of Emergency PPKM in the field, which is too over-acting, even causing controversy. It must move quickly to fix it," said the former chairman of PSSI.

La Nyalla emphasized that essential and critical sectors must be ensured not to be disrupted in distribution.

"It is enough, for example, to show an ID Card or a simple document or from the form of transportation, the officers in the field already understand," he said.

He also did not want the implementation of the Emergency PPKM to be not optimal due to the inability of officers in the field to translate the rules.

"Emergency PPKM is intended to control the rate of COVID-19. But do not let its implementation seem to forget the main needs of the community. This means that both must go hand in hand," said La Nyalla.
