The Defendant In The Corruption Procurement Of The SBB Regency Government Ship Was Sentenced To 4.5 Years In Prison

The Ambon Corruption Court Panel of Judges sentenced him to four years and six months in prison (4.5 years) against Stenly Pirsouw, one of six defendants in corruption in the procurement fund for the West Seram Regency Government (SBB) ship, Maluku.

"To declare the defendant guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption together as threatened with crime in Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code," said Chief Justice Martha Maitimu at the Ambon Corruption Court reported by ANTARA, Thursday, March 14.

The defendant Stenly was also sentenced to pay a fine of Rp. 400 million, subsidiary to three months in prison and compensation of Rp. 4,822,722,386 and if not paid, his property was confiscated to cover the replacement money.

"In the event that the convict does not have sufficient assets, he will be replaced with imprisonment for two years and six months in prison," said the Panel of Judges.

There are also things that incriminate the defendant being sentenced to prison because his actions along with five other defendants have caused state financial losses and did not support the government's program in eradicating corruption, collusion, and nepotism.

Meanwhile, the mitigating factor is that the defendant was polite in the trial and had never been convicted.

The verdict of the panel of judges was lighter than the demands of the Maluku Prosecutor's Office, Grace Siahaya, who demanded that the defendant be sentenced to seven years in prison, a fine of Rp. 100 million, subsidiary to two months in prison and compensation of Rp. 5 billion, subsidiary to three years and six months in prison.

The other five defendants who have been convicted in the previous trial are Herwilin as PPK, Adrianus Manuputty who is the Director of PT. Kairos Anugerah Marina, and Christian Soukotta, M. Malud, and Siti M. Batjun as working group.

Herwilin was sentenced to two years in prison, then Adrians Manuputty and three pokja were each sentenced to 1.5 years in prison and the five defendants also had to pay a fine of Rp. 100 million, subsidiary to two months in prison.

Based on this decision, both the prosecutor and the defendant through their legal advisors still expressed their thoughts.
