JAKARTA - The Special Class I Immigration Office for Immigration Checkpoints (TPI) Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang secured as many as 11 foreign nationals (WNA) from Africa who violated their residence permit in Indonesia.

The eleven Africans were arrested in an operation to monitor foreigners at an apartment in Cengkareng, West Jakarta in the early hours of Thursday (1/6).

"From 11 African citizens were arrested in an apartment in Cengkareng, West Jakarta. Now we are in the stage of examining the documents of these foreigners," said Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Immigration Office Muhammad Tito Andrianto as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, June 1.

In the operation he carried out, it was a follow-up to public reports regarding the activities of foreigners disturbing public order in his area.

His party immediately took action against the foreigners by checking their immigration documents.

"Form the violation because they could not show the documents while living in Indonesia, so we arrested them," he said.

So far, said Tito, Immigration investigators are still developing and examining the 11 foreigners. They are still being investigated further regarding residence permits in Indonesia.

"For complete information, we will be notified after the investigation is complete," he said.

At the time of the arrest, some of the foreigners from Africa were aware of the presence of a joint operations team, so that officers in the field experienced a slight problem in searching for the foreigners.

"The arrest of the foreigner was accompanied by a chase, because the foreigner ran away when he was about to be arrested. Two other foreigners were arrested by a joint team that scattered in the apartment parking area," he said.
