The public prosecutor of the Simeulue District Attorney (Kejari), Aceh, received the delegation of cases of mistreatment of residents involving foreign tourists from local police investigators.

Head of the Intelligence Section of the Simeulue Kejari, Suheri Wira Fernanda, said the foreign tourists who were suspects in the case were Risbi Joneswas Mani (23), an Australian citizen.

"The case file and the suspect and evidence were received by the public prosecutor at the Simeulue Kejari Office from the Simeulue Police investigators, on Friday (26/5)," said Suheri as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 26.

He said the victim in the persecution case was Edi Ron (38), a resident of Siripak, Lantik Village, West Teupah District, Simeulue Regency.

The alleged abuse was allegedly carried out by foreign tourists in Lantik Village, on April 27, 2023. At that time, the foreign national was under the influence of alcohol wearing only underwear to visit the coffee shop.

Then, damaged a resident's motorbike and abused the victim. As a result, the victim was rushed to the Simeulue Regional General Hospital (RSUD) after suffering an eight-centimeter long leg wound. The victim received 50 medical stitches.

"Currently, the suspect of the persecution is being held at the Sinabang Class III Penitentiary for the next 20 days. The foreign tourist is suspected of violating Article 351 Paragraph (2) of the 1st Criminal Code," said Suheri.

He explained that the public prosecutor would restore justice (RJ) or restorable justice by seeking peace between the suspect and the victim.

"If the peace effort is successful, the public prosecutor will expose the case to the Attorney General. If the RJ proposal is approved, then the settlement of the case will no longer be through trial in court," said Suheri.
