A team from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Airlangga (Unair) examined the cause of death of a single whale stranded on the beach in the Kemawan Putih Tambak area, Surabaya City, East Java.

"It is still under observation in the laboratory. Tomorrow there will be an evaluation of the carcasses for the second time," said Lecturer of the Pathology Division of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Airlangga University, Drh. Bilqisthi Ari Putra, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, May 15.

"The initial assumption is still not there because we have not conducted an autopsy. However, what is clear is that there are no signs of violence. We will confirm further tomorrow," he said regarding the possible cause of the whale's death.

A team from the Faculty of Medicine, Unairakan, autopsied the whale carcass on Tuesday (16/5).

"There are four people from Unair today. Tomorrow there will be 10 teams that will come back for an autopsy," he said.

On Saturday (13/5) night residents found whale carcasses on the beach in the Kelurahan Kejawan Putih Tambak area, Mulyorejo District, Surabaya City.

According to Bilqis, a team from the Unair Faculty of Veterinary Medicine only received information about the discovery of the whale carcass on Sunday (14/5) night. The Pope belongs to the Bringde whale group.

According to him, the Unairakan Faculty of Veterinary Medicine team conducted further examinations to determine for sure the type of whale.

"What is certain is that the Fryde'swhole group may be a baline whale, but we will then confirm it from the autopsy results," he said.

He explained that balin is a type of whale that has no teeth and usually eats food such as haphazard. According to him, balin whales are indeed migrating.
