Landslides In Tasikmalaya Damaged 5 Residents' Houses, 15 People Forced To Evacuate

TASIKMALAYA - The Tasikmalaya Regency Government, West Java evacuated 15 residents of Banyurasa Village, a local district to a safer place because their houses were affected by landslides, so they could no longer be occupied and their condition was threatened with further landslides.

"There are five houses, three people each house. Yesterday, 15 people were counted, now they have been moved. Earlier, communication with the community regarding urgent needs, hopefully the Social Service can help," said Sukahening Ucu Sub-district Head Mulyana, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 4.

He said heavy rains caused landslides to hit residential areas of residents' houses and roads connecting between villages and main roads in Sukahening District, Wednesday, May 3 at around 18.30 WIB.

The natural disaster, he said, did not cause any casualties, only damaged three residents' houses and two houses were threatened with the danger of further landslides, so all the occupants were evacuated to a safe place at their relatives' homes.

"The house was abandoned, we evacuated it to a neighbor's house, to his brother to avoid unwanted things," he said.

He conveyed that his party had reported to the Social Service of Tasikmalaya Regency to deal with displaced communities in order to get attention related to urgent needs, such as logistics and others.

In addition, he continued, other urgent needs for the community, namely road access, currently the roads used by the community are still covered by landslide materials.

"This temporary road access cannot be passed by four-wheeled vehicles," he said.

Conditions in landslide areas, he said, are currently being observed that there is still ground movement, so people must remain vigilant, as well as field officers who clean avalanche materials are always alert to the threat of further landslides.

"There is still movement, the local government together with the community, the TNI, Polri are still evacuating materials that prevent the community," he said.
