JAKARTA - A ship carrying refugee groups from various countries departing from Sudan arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, as the conflict continues to raging in the African country.
The Saudi Arabian-flagged ship with the name "Amana" docked at Raja Faisal Naval Base, Jeddah before 5 am local time, as reported by Arab News April 26.
Sources familiar with this said the ship departed from Sudan Harbor in the Red Sea at 08:33 local time yesterday, and arrived in Jeddah today at around 04:47. The shipping length is around 20 hours 14 with an average speed of 7.9 knots.
A total of 1,697 refugees from 58 countries were transported by the ship. The details include 46 Americans, 40 British, 11 German, 4 French, 13 Saudis, 560 Indonesians, 239 Yemeni, 198 Sudanese and 26 Turks.
When the refugees descended, they were greeted by base officials and diplomatic authorities from various countries.

Previously, Saudi Arabia had received several waves of refugees by air and sea, starting with a ship arriving in Jeddah on Saturday carrying 150 people including diplomats and foreign officials.
On Monday, a C-130 Hercules military plane flew dozens of South Korean civilians to King Abdullah Jeddah Air Base, while a ship carried nearly 200 people from 14 countries across the Red Sea from Port Sudan.
