JAKARTA - Through a video call connected to his regional secretary who is currently serving in Jakarta, the Regent of the Sula Islands, North Maluku, Fifian Adeningsih Mus spoke about the viral video that said he owed him to a market trader.

It is known, a few days ago it went viral on social media, a video in which the Regent of the Sula Islands said that the debt was billed by traders of the traditional market.

This happened when the Regent of the Sula Islands was checking prices ahead of Lebaran at Makdati Market, Sula Islands.

Fifian emphasized that he never owed the merchant. One of the two women scolded by the merchant was also not himself, but two of his staff who participated in the visit to the traditional market.

He was surprised when he was visiting the market, he saw a commotion between the merchant and his staff.

"Essentially, when I visited the market, I heard a commotion around there. I thought it was just something that didn't happen like this. After I finished my visit at the market, I returned to my residence, so there was a story like that (viral)," said Fifian to reporters, Tuesday, April 18.

After being traced after the video went viral, it turned out that those who owed the traders were two civil servants in Sula Islands Regency. Both are SBS and RB who owe it to a trader named Yanaleko worth Rp. 85 million.

However, Fifian admitted that he did not know why his two subordinates borrowed that amount from traders, including whether they sold the Regent's name when he owed him.

Fifian emphasized that currently the problem had been resolved after he summoned the two civil servants.

Yanaleko has also apologized for his actions which went viral and dragged the regent's name.

"He has clarified, so here it's just a miss communication, that's the point.

"And they (PNS Sula Regency) have also returned what was their right of the merchant some time ago," said Fifian.

Currently, Fifian is coordinating with his legal team whether to report the parties who create the issue that he owes it to traders.

The reason is, he admitted that the viral news was very detrimental to him and attacked him politically. But specifically for netizens, he did not question even though his name had been ridiculed in the last few days.

"But I don't keep my anger and annoyance with netizens outside the Sula Islands because Indonesian netizens are like that, but it's okay, it's not them who support and choose me, it's not them who vote and support me, it's sympathizers and the entire people of the Sula Islands.

"So it's okay, just let it go, the important thing is that the truth is still true," he said.
