ACEH - The North Aceh Resort Police (Polres) arrested a cannabis farmer during the operation to destroy the prohibited plant in the Sawang area, North Aceh Regency.
North Aceh Police Chief AKBP Deden Heksaputeta said the 2 hectares of marijuana with plants reached tens of thousands of sticks.
"The operation to destroy the cannabis field took place on Thursday (30/3). The cannabis field is in the hills of Teupin Reuep Village, Sawang District, North Aceh Regency," said Deden Heksaputera in North Aceh, Antara, Friday, March 31.
Deden Heksaputra said the arrested cannabis farmer had the initials J (30), a local resident. Now, J is being secured at the North Aceh Police Headquarters for further investigation.
The middle-ranking police officer said the discovery of the marijuana field began with the arrest of three narcotics perpetrators with 7 kilograms of marijuana as evidence.
Based on the information from the three perpetrators, said Deden Heksaputera, the North Aceh Police Narcotics Investigation Unit team conducted an investigation and found a 2 hectare marijuana field at two separate points.
"The height of the plants in the fields ranges from 30 centimeters to 2 meters. The number of cannabis plants is estimated to reach 16,000 stems and most of them are ready to harvest," said Deden Heksaputra.
Deden Heksaputra said the destruction of the cannabis field was carried out by removing the plant and then burning the forbidden plant.
"The destruction of the cannabis field is an attempt to decide the supply of prohibited goods. The destruction has also saved the younger generation from the dangers of class one narcotics," said Deden Heksaputera.
