JAKARTA - The auction house Sotheby's announced that about 1,500 items from the home of Queen's late vocalist Freddie Mercury in London will be featured in exhibitions around the world for the first time in 2023, of which some will be sold in September.

It is estimated that 1,500 items will be sold during six auctions and it is estimated that it will generate more than 7.4 million US dollars.

In a Sotheby press release, Freddie's close friend, Mary Austin, who has been treating the items for more than 30 years at his former home at the Garden Lodge in Kensington high-class, said he decided it was time to release the items.

"Over the years, I have had the joy and privilege to live surrounded by all the beautiful things Freddie is looking for and loved," Austin said in a statement.

"But the years have passed, and the time has come for me to make difficult decisions to close a very special chapter in my life.

"Freddie is an extraordinary and intelligent collector who shows us that there are beauty and fun and conversation can be found in every way.

"I hope [the upcoming events] will be an opportunity to share many aspects of Freddie, both public and private, and for the world to better understand, and celebrate, his unique and beautiful spirit."

When Freddie died in 1991, he left his house and contents to Mary, a ex-girlfriend and friend throughout his life. For three decades, Mary kept the house and its contents almost exactly as when Freddie died, but he now decided to sell his collection.

The highlight of this sale is the lyrics of Freddie's handwritten work for one ofQUEEN's phenomenal anthemic songs, We Are The Champions, including harmony and chord, written on nine pages. Also available are previously unpublished lyrics of the song Killer Queen, written on a piece of paper in 1974.
