SURABAYA - In order to produce talented lifters and excel at the international level, PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) again supports the National Championship (Kejurnas) for Weightlifting Youth and Junior Pupuk Indonesia Series I 2023 which was held by the Executive Board of the Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PB PABSI).
The 2023 Pupuk Indonesia Series I Weightlifting Championship was held at the Novotel Samator Hotel, Surabaya for three days from 6 to 9 June 2023.
Pupuk Indonesia, represented by the President Director of PT Petrokimia Gresik, Dwi Satriyo Annurogo, said that Pupuk Indonesia Group welcomed the activities of the Youth Weightlifting National Championship and Junior Pupuk Indonesia Series I in 2023.
"On this occasion, we support the holding of the 2023 Youth Weightlifting and Junior Championships. We hope that this activity will produce the seeds of athletes who can make the nation proud not only at the Sea Games level, but also at the ASEAN Games and until the Olympics. Support for this activity is also a form of contribution from Pupuk Indonesia to the country," said Dwi Satriyo Annurogo when opening the 2023 Youth Weightlifting and Junior Championships in Surabaya, East Java, Tuesday, June 6.
Dwi revealed that Pupuk Indonesia Group support was carried out by Pupuk Indonesia along with three of its subsidiaries, namely PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang, PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur, and PT Petrokimia Gresik. Pupuk Indonesia Group hopes that this support will provide maximum results and improve the achievements of Indonesian weightlifters.
The Weightlifting Championship, which is supported by Pupuk Indonesia Group 2022, has succeeded in producing talented lifters and outstanding at the 2023 SEA GAMES Cambodia, namely Luluk Tri Wijayana in the 49 kg class who won bronze and Muhammad Husni in the 55 kg class won bronze.
PB PABSI Secretary General Djoko Pramono said that Luluk Tri Wijayana and Muhammad Husni were the best lifters for the sons and daughters at the Youth Weightlifting and Junior Pupuk Indonesia Championships in Yogyakarta in 2022.
"We would like to express our gratitude to Pupuk Indonesia Group who sincerely always helps and fully supports the National Championship at the Youth and Junior levels in order to produce potential athletes who are expected to make Indonesia proud at the upcoming international Olympics events," said Djoko.
Therefore, Djoko revealed that the mission of the Pupuk Indonesia Weightlifting National Championship Series I this year is to provide competition for Youth and Junior athletes so that the regeneration of athletes within PABSI is not cut off. According to him, the 2023 National Championships received extraordinary interest from each province in order to create potential young athletes.
"The National Office of Youth and Junior is part of the long-term coaching program. Of course, it requires a special approach to attract young talents through the use of sports science and technology in a structured, measurable, and orderly manner under the coordination of the Binpres, Litbang, and Puslahta sections," he added.
On the same occasion, the Chairperson of the National Championship Organizing Committee for Weightlifting Pupuk Indonesia Series I, Sonny Kasiran said that all participants who competed at this year's national championship were the best lifters in Indonesia. The reason is, to appear in this event must be declared to have passed the Minimum requirement of the First Total Force (MATP) from each class contested.
