JAKARTA - Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Tutuka Ariadji, said that the construction of the Phase I Cisem pipeline, which began in May 2022, has reached 90 percent.

This project has gone through 1,526,035 hours of safe work, and has helped drive the economy by absorbing up to 753 workers, as well as helping domestic industries with the realization of the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) per TW I 2023 has reached 63.52 percent.

He explained that the use of the Phase I Cisem pipeline has been awaited by the Kendal Special Economic Zone (KEK) with a projected gas requirement of up to 39.42 MMSCFD from 26 companies in KEK Kendal until 2026, Batang Integrated Industrial Zone (KITB) with a projected gas requirement of 25.83 MMSCFD from 14 companies at KITB Phase I until 2028, as well as other industrial areas along the Cisem transmission pipeline stage 1.

"After the construction of the Phase 1 Cisem pipeline is completed, we will use it for industries in Batang and Kendal that need it. Meanwhile, for gas supply, it comes from Jambaran Tiung Biru and a gas field managed by Husky-CNOOC Madura Limited (HCML). Not to mention that in northern Bali and Lombok there are large oil and gas reserves (WK Agung I and II). So the hope is that when it develops, in 10 years it can use gas from the field," continued Tutuka.

Meanwhile, Head of BPH Migas Erika Retnowati said, considering that the Cisem pipeline uses the APBN budget, it is hoped that the toll fee will be cheaper than if built by the private sector.

This is because these assets remain in the Government so that their depreciation will be borne by the Government.

"Currently, we have started to calculate how much the toll fee will be. Of course we have to adjust it to the gas price that has been set," he added.

The construction of the Cisem natural gas transmission pipeline is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) which aims to increase access to natural gas for the entire community and industry.

This transmission pipeline is expected to increase the accessibility of natural gas, most of which comes from gas fields in East Java, to Central Java to meet the needs of developing industries.
