JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono reviewed the infrastructure work and facilities that will be used to support the implementation of the 42nd ASEAN Summit (KTT). The ASEAN Summit will be held from May 9 to May 11, 2023 in Labuan Bajo and Tana Mori, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province.

The series of review activities carried out on Wednesday, April 26, include a review of Jalan Yohanes Sehadun (in front of Komodo Airport), VVIP parking at the West Manggarai Regent's Office, Puncak Waringin. Binongko, Mako West Manggarai Police, a performance in the Marina area, to the Tana Mori Special Economic Zone (KEK) which is one of the venues of the ASEAN 2023 Summit.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono instructed that all construction work, both in Labuan Bajo and Tana Mori, must be carried out with the best methods and quality. Basuki requested that the quality of infrastructure be maintained and improved according to the standards for organizing international events.

"Don't play games, the quality of work must be the number one priority. Especially in road infrastructure, immediately improve the quality of asphalt," Basuki said in a press release, Thursday, April 27.

The increase in supporting facilities in Labuan Bajo - Tana Mori was carried out by the Ministry of PUPR through the NTT Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) of the Directorate General of Human Settlements and the NTT National Road Implementation Center (BPJN) of the Directorate General of Highways. The improvement of facilities through regional planning and road corridors aims to support security and comfort during the implementation of the ASEAN Summit.

Currently, the progress of work to improve supporting facilities in the Labuan Bajo area is 73%. Meanwhile, the progress of work at the Tana Mori SEZ currently reaches 94%.

"The target for completing all work in early May 2023, before the ASEAN Summit takes place," said Basuki.

The scope of work being carried out in the Labuan Bajo area includes the construction of the West Manggarai Police Headquarters, the arrangement of the Marina Labuan Bajo Zone 4 Promenade. Then, improving the quality of the Labuan Bajo road corridor landscape, structuring the VVIP parking lot of the West Manggarai Regent's office, structuring the streets and sidewalks of Sp. Binongko Sp.Sylvia (Jl. Waecicu), and structuring the Median Jalan Yohanes Sehadun (in front of Komodo Airport).

Meanwhile, the work carried out at the Tana Mori SEZ includes the construction of the Roundabout Beach Club, Shelter Pier, the installation of geomats on the road corridor of the Tana Mori Area. The Ministry of PUPR also built a Munting Embung between Labuan Bajo and Tana Mori in Warloka Village, Komodo District.
