Police Find Misappropriation Of Cash Social Assistance, There Are Teachers And West Mimika District Employees Who Receive

TIMIKA - The police found several irregularities in the distribution of Cash Social Assistance (BST) for underprivileged residents in the West Mimika District, Papua. There are teachers and district office employees as beneficiaries.

Mimika Police Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Hermanto, said that the preliminary investigation found indications of irregularities in the distribution of BST for allotments of seven villages in the West Mimika District.

"The indications are that the distribution is not right on target, it has never been socialized before it is distributed. Surprisingly even the teachers and staff of the West Mimika District Office receive BST with amounts varying between IDR 200 thousand to IDR 300 thousand, while ordinary people only receive tens of thousands", said Hermanto quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 27.

The allegation of misappropriation of BST distribution in the West Mimika District is also evident from the minimal number of residents receiving assistance from the government for residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The examples given are actually 10 beneficiary families (KPM). But in reality, it is only distributed to three to five KPM, the rest is for those who take care of it internally", said Hermanto.

The investigation team of the Mimika Police Satreskrim Corruption Unit investigators still have to coordinate with the Mimika District Social Service and PT Pos Indonesia Timika Branch Office to find out the mechanism for disbursing BST.

A list of names of KPMs in seven villages in the West Mimika District was also investigated and the amount of the allocation of funds that they should receive each month.

To investigate allegations of irregularities in the distribution of BST to seven villages in the West Mimika District, the Mimika Police has dispatched three investigators from the Crime Investigation Unit Corruption Unit to Kokonao a week ago.
