Monorail Pole Thief In Rasuna Said Arrested, Perpetrator 2 Hours Broke Iron, Motive Was Redeeming Motorcycle At Workshop
JAKARTA - The police have uncovered a case of the theft of the monorail that occurred on Jalan Rasuna Said or around the Kuningan festival.
Metro Police Chief Setiabudi, Kompol Rinaldo Aser, said the perpetrator was arrested within hours of acting.
"Armed from the viral video on Instagram, we from the Setiabudi Metro Police, especially the Criminal Investigation Unit, went directly to the scene, then conducted an investigation and arrested the perpetrators", said Kompol Rinaldo, quoted by Antara, Monday, July 19.
Rinaldo said the perpetrators took action in the morning by breaking six-iron rods from one of the state-owned companies. Then the perpetrator took the iron to his house.
"The perpetrator broke six iron bars for two hours. Then they were transported by a friend's motorbike, and brought to his house", he said.
The perpetrator, he continued, is a resident of Menteng Atas Village, who works as a parking attendant every day. The motive for the perpetrators was to redeem the vehicle which was being repaired at the workshop.
"The motive is to redeem a personal motorbike. The plan is to sell the iron to pay for a vehicle that is being repaired at the workshop", added Rinaldo.

To investigators, the suspect admitted that he had only committed the act once. But the investigation will continue to investigate other possible criminal acts.
For his actions, the perpetrator is subject to Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning the crime of theft with a maximum threat of 7 years in prison.
