Until The End Of 2023, There Will Be 13 Toll Roads Throughout 309.78 KM Operating
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) targets that 13 toll roads along 309.78 km will operate until the end of 2023.
Director of Block Free Roads of the Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of PUPR Triono Junoasmono said the completion of toll road construction was carried out in stages from year to year.
The toll road is expected to increase multimodal connectivity for services for a more efficient national logistics system to support economic growth and increase competitiveness.
"In the 2020-2024 period, the 1.367 Km toll road construction target can be realized, which from 2020 to May 2023 has been completed for 535.5 km and will follow 309.78 km of new toll roads spread across 13 segments by the end of 2023," Triono said in a press release, Friday, May 26.
The Ministry of PUPR is known to have completed the construction of toll roads along 790 Km to 2014, and continued in the 2015-2019 period which managed to complete 1,298 km, including the connecting of the Trans Java Toll Road and the start of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road as the backbone of the national economy. Triono said, there are a number of toll roads that have been operating in January-May 2023, namely the Semarang-Demak Toll Road (Sek 2 Sayung-Demak), Becakayu (Section 2A Jakasampurna-Kayuringin), and Cinere-Jagorawi (Section 3A Kukusan-Krukut).
"It is targeted that the total length of toll roads completed construction/functional and operational until 2024 will reach a total of 3,455 km," he said.
Meanwhile, the new sections targeted to operate until the end of 2023 are the Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan Toll Road section 4-6 (28.2 Km), the Ciawi Sukabumi Toll Road section 2 (11.9 Km), the Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road section 4 (7.7 Km), the Cimanggis-Cibitung Toll Road section 2 (23.01 Km), the Serpong-Cinere Toll Road section 2 (3.6 Km), the Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Road section 5-6 (13.2 Km).
Furthermore, there are the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat Toll Road section 1-2 (38.45 Km), the Pasuruan-Probolinggo Toll Road section 4A (8.57 Km), the Jakarta-Cikampek II South Toll Road package 3 (31.25 Km), the Serpong-Balaraja Toll Road section 1B (5.4 Km), the Kisaran-Tebing Tinggi Toll Road (47.6 Km), and the Binjai-Langsa Toll Road (26.2 Km), and the Indralaya-Prabumulih Intersection (64.7 Km).

According to Triono, the construction of toll roads is very useful in supporting regional economic growth, because the mobility of goods, logistics, and humans is faster and more efficient. This is because there is a reduction in travel time and savings in transportation operational costs.
"For example, the Trans Java Toll Road encourages the growth of new industrial areas, including Batang, Subang, Tegal, Pemalang, Kendal, Brebes, to a number of areas in the south, such as Boyolali, Sragen, Ngawi, and Nganjuk," he said.
"Strengthening local MSMEs is also part of the development of toll roads, where in each rest area it is not only filled by big brands, but also local MSME products," concluded Triono.
