AMBON - A resident of Baguala Ambon Subdistrict, Maluku was surprised by the discovery of the carcass of a dugong or dugong stranded in the coastal area of the market on Sunday.
"I was surprised when I walked around and saw the carcass of this dugong," May, the resident who found the fish in Ambon was quoted as saying by ANTARA, Saturday, May 20.
The discovery of the two-meter-long marine mammal, which is estimated to weigh more than 100 kilograms, has also become the center of attention of local residents and passing motorists.

After an hour of being used as a spectacle for residents, residents also contacted the local police to evacuate the discovery of the dugong or dugong.
Meanwhile, another resident, Robert, said that this was the first time this incident had occurred on the coast which borders the main road.
"It looks like this fish is separated from their herd to get here, because the waters here are far from the high seas," he said.
