Member of the Mandalika Regional Police, Central Lombok Police, West Nusa Tenggara together with residents evacuated the body of a Nurudin (60) driver who drowned while trying to help a child who was dragged by the waves while bathing at Senek Beach, Mandalika SEZ.

"The victim came from Bonjeruk Village, Jonggat District, Central Lombok Regency," said Mandalika Regional Police Chief, Iptu Kadek Suhendra in Praya, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 20.

The incident that caused the victim to die occurred on Saturday, when the group gathered at the SDN Bekel Hamlet School and the victim used a car to go together to the Senek Beach tourist location, Kuta Village to hold a school farewell event.

After arriving at the location, a group of school children went to play on the beach, but for about 30 minutes there was a sound of a child screaming for help because he was dragged by the waves while playing on the beach.

Hearing the child's screams, the victim immediately ran to provide help to the child who was dragged by the waves. After swimming as far as 50 meters, the victim was unconscious in the waters.

"Then after helping the child who was dragged by the waves, the witness and the residents around the scene carried out help for the victim and then evacuated to the Kuta Health Center," he said.

After examining the victim by medical officers, the victim was declared dead. The victim's body was taken by the family accompanied by the Head of Bonjeruk Village by using a village ambulance to the funeral home.

"The victim's body has been evacuated to the funeral home for burial," he said.

With this incident, his party also appealed to the public to be vigilant and increase supervision of their children while on vacation at tourist attractions.

"We urge residents to remain vigilant when going on vacation, so that unwanted things do not happen," he said.
