アナッククラカタウ山噴火、ロンタランアブ火山高さ2.5 Km

The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) reported an eruption on Mount Anak Krakatau located in the waters of the Sunda Strait, South Lampung Regency, Lampung.

"There was an eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 09.20 WIB. The height of the eruption column was observed at approximately 2,500 meters above the peak," said Krakatau Mount Anak Observation Post Officer Deny Mardiono as reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 12.

Deny explained that the ash column of the eruption looks gray with thick intensity leading to the southwest. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 70 millimeters and a duration of 42 seconds.

Previously, on Thursday (11/5), PVMBG also recorded two eruptions that occurred on Mount Anak Krakatau located in Download Pedada District, South Lampung Regency.

The first eruption was recorded at an altitude of 3,000 meters above the peak, at 05.19 WIB. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 70 millimeters and a duration of approximately 2 minutes 12 seconds.

The second eruption tends to be smaller with a height of 1,000 meters above the peak, at 12:41 WIB. The maximum amplitude is 70 millimeters and a duration of 143 seconds.

Throughout Thursday, May 11, Mount Krakatau was recorded to have experienced one eruption or eruption earthquake, one low-frequency earthquake, two multi-phase earthquakes, one deep volcanic earthquake, two distant tectonic earthquakes, and one continuous tremor earthquake.

Mount Anak Krakatau is at level III or standby status which has been set since April 24, 2022.

PVMBG recommends that people, visitors, tourists, and climbers not approach the volcano or move within a five-kilometer radius of the active crater.
