JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) detected the emergence of tropical cyclone seeds 91S and 91B around Indonesia which could potentially affect the weather in a number of areas in the next few days.
BMKGguswanto Deputy for Meteorology said the seeds of tropical cyclone 91S were observed in the Indian Ocean west of Bengkulu.
Cyclone 91S seeds were observed to be around 4.3 South Latitude (LS) and 91.6 East Longitude (BT) with a maximum wind speed of 15 knots, and a minimum air pressure of 1008.5 millibars (mb).
"The potential of these seeds to grow into tropical cyclones in the next 24 hours is in the low category," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 8.
He explained the impact of 91S seeds on weather conditions in Indonesia in the next 24 hours, including the potential for rain with moderate to heavy intensity in Bengkulu and Lampung.
In addition, he continued, the 91S seeds also had an impact on wave heights of 1.25-2.5 meters in the eastern waters of the Nias Islands, the eastern waters of Sipora Island-Pagai Island.

As for the seeds of tropical cyclone 91B, Guswanto said they were in the Indian Ocean northwest of Aceh, precisely at 6.6 North Latitude (LU) and 93.3 East Longitude with a maximum wind speed of 15 knots and a minimum pressure of 1005 mb.
"For the next 24 hours moving towards the west and the potential for these seeds to grow into tropical cyclones in the next 24 hours is in the low category," he said.
The impact of 91B seeds on weather conditions in Indonesia in the next 24 hours, including the potential for moderate to heavy rain in Aceh and North Sumatra. In addition, 91B seeds also have an impact on wave heights of 1.25-2.5 meters in Sabang-Banda Aceh waters.
Wave heights of 2.5-4 meters higher have the potential to occur in the northern part of the Malacca Strait. Meanwhile, the wave height is 4-6 meters in the waters north of Sabang, the waters west of Aceh, the Indian Ocean west of Aceh.
