運輸大臣は、ラブアンバホでのASEAN首脳会議の交通施設とインフラの準備を確保する

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi ensured that transportation facilities and infrastructure in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) were ready ahead of the 42nd ASEAN Summit on 9-11 May 2023.

Previously, the Minister of Transportation made a working visit to Labuan Bajo, Saturday, to check the readiness of a number of transportation facilities and infrastructure there. One of the things that the Minister of Transportation checked was Komodo Airport.

The Minister of Transportation ensured that the airports that would be the landing sites for the delegates, both from Indonesia and from ASEAN member countries, were ready to welcome and serve state guests well.

"In a few days, we will have many guests from ASEAN. If we look at our preparations, we are very good. Even the residents (Labuan Bajo) also welcome them," said the Minister of Transportation as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 6.

He explained that facilities at Komodo Airport both on the land and on the air side were ready to launch VVIP and commercial flights.

Komodo Airport has a runway length of 2,650 meters and a width of 45 meters that can serve aircraft type A320 and B738, the apron area reaches 31,000 square meters for sevenparking stands with details of four narrow-body aircraft and three propeller aircraft.

Komodo Airport also has a passenger terminal covering an area of 13,366 square meters which can accommodate up to 1.1 million passengers per year.

To launch the movement of aircraft, the Ministry of Transportation has also prepared an alternative airport closest to Komodo Airport as a parking space for delegates, namely I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar, Lombok Praya Airport, Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar, and El Tari Airport in Kupang.

A number of other supporting facilities have also been prepared to support the activities of the ASEAN Summit, includingcustom, immigration, and quarantine (CIQ) inspection facilities and a helipad facility for medical evacuation.

In addition to checking airports, the Minister of Transportation also checked the transportation facilities provided by the Ministry of Transportation, namely in the form of a Hiace car as many as 25 units, all of which had been ramp checked.

Later the cars will become shuttles, which will serve the mobility of delegates, committees, and also media coverage crews from and to airports as well as hotels and activity venues.

In addition to preparing Hiace, 30 driver crews were also prepared who knew the characteristics and conditions of the road in Labuan Bajo.

Furthermore, the Minister of Transportation also inspected the Sinabung Motor Ship (KM) which functions as a floating hotel starting May 6-12, 2023.

KM Sinabung has docked at Marina Labuan Bajo Pier since Saturday morning, and can already be used for the accompanying team of the ASEAN country delegation, including the media team, security teams, and other support teams.

KM Sinabung prepared by PT Pelni can accommodate 2,000 passengers, which are divided into 32 1A class cabins, 20 1B class cabins, 42 2A class cabins, 14 2B class cabins, and economic cabins. KM Sinabung also has a meeting room with a capacity of 150 people.

Finally, the Minister of Transportation also visited the meeting, incentive, convention, and exhibition (MICE) areas in Golo Mori which will later be used for the side of the 42nd ASEAN Summit.

The MICE area in Golo Mori was developed by PT Pembangunan Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero) or Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC).
