JAKARTA - In the midst of the onslaught of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, Amazon announced the launch of AI Ready, a company commitment to providing free AI skills training for 2 million people worldwide by 2025.

As part of this goal, Amazon will provide three new initiatives namely providing eight new free courses to improve AI and generative AI skills, a new Amazon Web Services (AWS) Generative AI Scholarship program with online learning platform Udacity, and a new collaboration with Code.org to help students learn generative AI.

"The goal of AI Ready is to help level the playing field in AI education, supported by the new initiatives we are launching today," said Swami Sivasubramanian, vice president of Data and AI at AWS in an official statement on the Amazon website, quoted Tuesday, November 21.

Additionally, Swami also said that they will continue to improve their existing free AI training programs and courses over time, to continue removing costs that are a barrier to accessing these important skills.

AI and Generative AI Skills Training

Amazon will provide eight trainings, including:

  • Introduction to Generative AI
  • Generative AI learning plan for decision-making
  • Introduction to Amazon CodeWhisperer
  • Foundations of Prompt Engineering
  • Low Code Machine Learning on AWS
  • Building Language Models on AWS
  • Building Generative AI Applications Using Amazon Bedrock

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Generative AI Scholarship

Meanwhile, for the scholarship program, AWS will provide Udacity scholarships, worth more than 12 million US dollars (IDR 185.3 billion), to more than 50,000 high school and university students from underserved and underrepresented communities globally.

New collaboration between Amazon Future Engineer and Code.org

Amazon kicks off a new collaboration between Amazon Future Engineer and Code.org to launch Hour of Code Dance Party: AI Edition. During this hour-long introduction to coding and AI, students will create their own virtual music video sets to hits from artists including Miley Cyrus, Harry Styles, and more.
