JAKARTA - Sam Altman, CEO who has just been fired from OpenAI, is discussing the possibility of returning to the ChatGPT manufacturing company. But on the other hand, he is also considering launching a new artificial intelligence (AI) company. This was revealed by a source familiar with this development on Saturday, November 18.

The day after the council rocked the tech world, Altman spoke with OpenAI executives about improving the company's management structure. Meanwhile he is also in discussions with a number of core OpenAI researchers and people loyal to him about how they can start a new AI company.

According to the source, the possibility of him returning to OpenAI or restarting a new company is still uncertain, the source said. Meanwhile OpenAI and Altman did not respond to requests for comment from the media.

Investors at OpenAI, including its biggest supporter Microsoft, are discussing efforts to ease losses, including perhaps encouraging the council to return Altman as CEO. They fear there will be massive socialization if Altman escapes.

Khosla Ventures, an early supporter of OpenAI, wants Altman back to OpenAI. "But we will support him in whatever he does next," said the founder of the fund, Vinod Khosla, on Saturday, as quoted by VOI from Reuters.

Microsoft declined to comment. They reportedly own 49% of the company's shares, while other investors and employees control 49%, with 2% owned by non-profit parent from OpenAI.

Emotions raged last Saturday as employees and former employees angered by the sacking of Altman and worried about how the upcoming 86 billion-dollar share sale could be affected by the sudden shocks of management.

On Saturday, some employees were surprised to consider quitting if Altman was not recovered this weekend. Some employees expressed support for joining Altman in starting a new company.

According to another source, Greg Brockman, former OpenAI president who said he withdrew from OpenAI after Altman's dismissal on Friday. He will also join any attempt, if there is a possibility of a company created by Altman.

Brockman did not immediately respond to requests for comment. OpenAI also did not respond to requests for comment.

Several researchers at OpenAI, including Szymon Sidor, have left the company due to the CEO's changes. However, it is not clear whether Sidor and others will join Altman's new venture. Sidor has confirmed his resignation.

Reported by The Information, Altman and former Apple design chief, Jony Ive, have discussed building new AI hardware. The report states that SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son was involved in the conversation last September.

"Altman's dismissal occurred due to a "communication collapse," not "mistakeful action," wrote Chief Operating Officer, Brad Lightcap, in an internal memo for the company last Saturday.

According to The report, there was an initial conversation between the OpenAI board and Altman to become CEO again. Forbes even reported on Saturday that investors were planning to return Altman as CEO.
