TikTok Removes Content That Promotes Osama Bin Laden's Letter

JAKARTA The manifesto content of Osama bin Laden has appeared in TikTok in the last few days. When this video became a public debate, TikTok immediately acted decisively.

Osama bin Laden is the leader of the Al-Qaeda group suspected of being involved in the 9/11 incident, the largest terrorist attack in the United States in 2001 and nearly killed 3,000 lives.

In 2002, a manifesto entitled Letter to America was issued by Osama bin Laden to criticize the American government in the Middle East and its support for Israel. The contents of this letter are widely circulated on TikTok.

One of the videos reported by The Verge has text that reads, "Trying to return to normal life after leading a letter to Osama bin Laden's America and realizing everything we learned about the Middle East, 9/11, and terrorism is a lie."

Not only that, a number of TikTok users used the contents of the letter to criticize the government's response to the Israeli and Hamas wars. Whatever the purpose of the distribution of this letter, TikTok really doesn't like it.

In a statement on X on November 17, TikTok stated that the content about Osama's letter had violated their rules and they did not support any form of terrorism.

TikTok defended itself and said that the content was not a trend because of the small number of videos. However, they asserted that, "We are proactively and aggressively removing this content and investigating how that content got into our platform."

Before TikTok removed the content, CNN reported that topics related to the Osama letter had been watched at least 14 million times on us, November 16. Now, when users try to become a Letter to America, the search results are empty.
