Asteroid The Size Of The Plane Will Pass Earth Today

JAKARTA - The Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) provides hints that an asteroid will pass through Earth very close to today, on November 13.

Although said to be close, this solar system object with the name Asteroid 2023 VX will pass through Earth at a distance of 6.6 million kilometers. With this distance, 2023 VX will not leave any marks on Earth.

This means that this asteroid will not have serious impacts such as injuring people or destroying buildings. This asteroid will not create craters that cause serious damage.

From the data from the study center belonging to the United States Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA), Asteroid 2023 VX will go very fast reaching 40,034 kilometers per hour. Not only is the speed fast, this asteroid is also very large.

The 2023 VX asteroid is three times the size of the Chelyabinsk asteroid that crashed in Russia in 2013 to injuring 1,400 people and destroying 7,000 buildings. This asteroid is estimated to reach 50 meters or the size of an airplane.

This asteroid belongs to the Apollo Near-Earth Asteroid group, which is a collection of rocks in space that crosses Earth. NASA says that 2023 VX is the first time it has passed Earth.

In the results of NASA's research and estimates, 2023 VX will not approach Earth anytime soon. NASA did not say whether 2023 VX could be seen with the naked eye, but most likely not.
