The short video application TikTok announces that a hashtag expressing support for Israel in its war against Hamas has gained more views than hashtags supporting Palestine. This clarifies allegations that the platform encourages content supporting Palestine.
In a blog post, TikTok said that the appearance from the United States on the hashtag "standwithIsrael" reached 46 million views between October 7 and October 31, compared to 29 million views of the hashtag "standwith Palestine" in the same period.
"In recent days, there has been an inaccurate analysis of TikTok's hashtag data around the conflict, which has left some commentators incorrectly implying that TikTok encourages pro-Palestinian content compared to pro-Israel content to users in the United States," the company said in a blog post.
