JAKARTA - British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, announced on Thursday, October 26, that the UK would establish the world's first artificial intelligence (AI) security institute. He did this before the country hosts an AI summit which will be held next week and will be attended by representatives of AI companies, political leaders and experts.

"The  institute will advance the world's knowledge of AI safety and will carefully examine, evaluate and test new types of AI so that we understand what each new model is capable of, exploring all risks from social harms like bias and disinformation to the most extreme risks ," Sunak said in a speech in London.

Meanwhile China has accepted Britain's invitation to attend a global summit on artificial intelligence next week, Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden confirmed on Thursday.

"Indeed they have accepted, but we will wait for who will actually attend the summit," said Dowden as quoted by VOI from the BBC. "Right now, yes, we expect them to come."

The UK gathered representatives of AI companies, political leaders and experts on November 1-2 to discuss what some see as the risks posed by AI, with the aim of building an international consensus on its safe development.
