Apple plans to gradually stop the second and third generation AirPods according to Mark Gurman's statement in the Briomberg report. This production was deliberately stopped to boost sales of the newest unit.

Usually, every time Apple releases a new product, the old product will be in the spotlight because of the cheaper price to buy. Likewise with AirPods.

Apart from being cheap, devices from Apple have a long use age. Therefore, users prefer the old version over buying a new version that costs more.

When the third generation of AirPods was released, the majority of attention was focused on the second generation. Gurman claims that third generation AirPods sales are not going well.

Therefore, Apple plans to differentiate between their AirPods ranks. The company will launch two sets of fourth-generation AirPods at once with distinguished stock keeping units (SKU).

Reportedly, the two latest designs from the fourth generation AirPods will have a pairing design from the third generation AirPods and the Pro model. Both will be launched together in 2024.

The features taken from the AirPods Pro are noise damping features and integrated speakers in charging containers. Both will use USB type C, replacing the lighting port as has happened this year.

Although Gurman conveyed the number of changes to the next AirPods Pro, there are no further details regarding the changes.
