Elon Musk's Dream Comes True, X Becomes a Paid Platform in These Two Countries

JAKARTA – Elon Musk didn't lie when he expressed his desire some time ago, namely to make X, formerly Twitter, a paid platform for all groups.

Revealed via the Support account, platform X is officially testing a paid program for all new accounts that have not been verified. The trial, called Not A Bot, will be implemented in New Zealand and the Philippines.

New registrants in these two countries will be asked to subscribe for one year for 1 US dollar or IDR 15 thousand. If you don't subscribe, new users won't be able to upload anything to their account and won't be able to interact with other posts.

Through its official website, X developed this paid program to support efforts to reduce spam, content manipulation and bot activity on their platform.

“This will evaluate potentially powerful measures to help us combat bots and spammers on X, while balancing platform accessibility with minimal cost,” X wrote.

A number of users flocked to voice their desire to move platforms and others protested against this policy. They think that making X a paid platform is not enough to deter scammers.

For the record, the Not A Bot program does not restrict users from logging into their accounts. All new users in New Zealand and the Philippines can still read various posts on the platform without leaving comments.
