JAKARTA Google has introduced the Green Light project, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based research, to prevent traffic jams and reduce vehicle emissions by the end of last year.

To date, Green Light has been implemented at 70 intersections from 12 cities, ranging from Abu Dhabi, Bali, Bangalore, Budapest, Haifa, Hamburg Hyderabad, Jakarta, to Seattle. Green Light itself has reduced the number of vehicle stops by 30 percent and reduced emissions by 10 percent.

In order to optimize the reduction in sustainability emissions, Google introduced a number of their newest features. One of the features they introduced was the Fuel Cost Calculator for electric cars.

Google realizes the importance of the presence of electric cars because they are environmentally friendly. With the Fuel Cost Calculator feature, Google will help users understand the amount of charging costs for electric cars and ordinary vehicles.

In addition to cars, Google is also paying attention to the aviation sector which has the most impact. Condensation, the gas produced by the aircraft, accounts for about 35% of the impact on global warming.

Looking at this problem, Google Research is working with American Airlines and Breakthrough Energy to predict when condensation could form and how aircraft avoided this formation.

Google Research has also partnered with EUROCONTROL, a European air navigation organization, to provide aircraft with information in avoiding condensation.

Finally, Google introduced a new feature on Google Earth that is able to incorporate solar power into the development design. With this capability, architecture can determine the design of the best buildings and solar power choices in urban areas.

A number of AI breakthroughs that Google developed have not only succeeded in reducing emissions, but also have a good impact on humans, such as choosing a smooth route or saving fuel. Looking at this positive side, Google will continue to encourage progress using AI breakthroughs.
