SpaceX, Elon Musk's space commercial company, has published a new site to promote their services. This service is titledStarlink Direct to Cell.

Through this site, SpaceX will offer smooth connectivity to text, voice, and data for all LTE phones in the world. This connectivity itself comes from theStarlink satellite which they continue to fly into orbit.

On the site, SpaceX says that Starlink Satellites provide access to all LTE phones wherever they are. This access can be used to sendshort message service (SMS), telephone, and crowding.

However, users have not been able to feel all this ability maximally next year. SpaceX itself explains that Starlink users can only use SMS services in 2024.

Meanwhile, the ability to make calls and access to data such as crowding can only be felt next year, namely 2025. They call this internet access the Internet of Things (IoT).

Direct to Cell functions with existing LTE phones everywhere. No changes are required in the hardware, firmware, or special applications, thus providing unlimited access to text, voice, and data," SpaceX wrote on its website.

Quoting from The Verge, this Starlink service will be slower than the terrestrial standard. The speed of the SpaceX satellite is estimated to be only two to four megabits per second. At least, this speed can be felt in remote areas that are often constrained by signals.

SpaceX itself has announced this Direct to Cell service since last year after collaborating with T-Mobile. Reportedly, this service will be expanded and can be felt worldwide, even on the continental United States, Hawaii, territorial waters, and various other regions.
