Women's Program For Innovation Targets 1 Million Digital Talents To Achieve Sustainable Goals 2023

JAKARTA - The woman of Innovation expressed her commitment to eliminating gender bias and encouraging women's innovation in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Therefore, this Markoving collaboration program with the Indonesian Magnifice and the Dian Sastrowardoyo Foundation targets 1 million professional digital talents to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The STEM sector is one of the prerequisites for innovating in various areas of life to achieve the Sustainable Goals of 2023. Unfortunately, the level of women's participation in the STEM sector is not as short as digitalization in Indonesia.

The Boston Consulting Group (2020) reported that only about 22 percent of these women work in technology. This Women's Innovation program was created to break the gender stereotypes that hinder the development of women's careers in the STEM sector.

Through the Women's Innovation program, participants will receive digital skills training according to their interests, such as web and game development, UI/UX design, and product management, facilitated by industry mentors who have professional experience in their fields.

"We hope program alumni have relevant knowledge to develop in competitive work environments once they graduate," Amanda Simandjuntak, Co-founder & CEO of Markoding said in a statement.

Amanda hopes that this program can build a generation of Indonesian women who are empowered, innovate, contribute, and have an impact on the nation through the contribution of 1 million digital talents from the need for the number of digital talents in Indonesia of 9 million people by 2030.

"The Women's Innovation Program is one of the concrete efforts in changing gender bias perceptions and starting innovation steps for women as a driving force for society, educators, and sociopreneurs," said Tri Mumpuni, Dadan Steering Committee for National Research and Innovation (BRIN).

In addition to digital technology, in the future, the Women's Innovation program will also develop collaboration and training in the fields of social entrepreneurship, the environment and education literacy needed in the 21st century.
