Raspberry PI was developed by Upton, Rob Mu town, Jack Lang, and Alan Mycrof. Development was carried out at the Cambridge University Computer laboratory. In 2009 they then founded the Raspberry PI foundation.

The use of the name Raspberry PI is a combination of the name fruit, namely Raspberry, and PI which comes from the word Python, one of the programming languages.
